From internship to summer job at Familjebostäder
During the spring term 2024, Nora Jonhäll did her internship at Familjebostäder, one of our partners at HoloHouse. Everything went quickly from the time Nora contacted us to the time she met Familjebostäder and those who would supervise from their side and until she got the place with them. Then it went well! So good that she got a summer job now after the internship!
What did you do during your internship?
During my internship, I had to carry out one assignment in particular, which was about working machines. Working machines include both small machines such as leaf blowers and brush cutters, and larger machines such as wheel loaders and field mowers. Familjebostäder's goal is for its own work machines to run on electricity, biogas or hydrogen by 2025. My work focused primarily on electrifying the machine fleet. Familjebostäder made an inventory of its work machines in 2023, and I compiled the data to get an overview of what the situation looks like right now. Then I made simple calculations and studies on what a future machine fleet could look like. My assignment was presented with a presentation and a report. The assignment was rewarding and I had to take great responsibility. My supervisor Kent Olsson was an important support and sounding board when I got stuck.
Anything that was particularly interesting?
In addition to my main tasks on working machines, I also got to attend other environment-related meetings. It was very exciting!
Why did you apply for the internship? And do you have any advice for other students?
I applied for the internship because the assignment felt relevant to my education. I study environmental science at the University of Gothenburg. It was so much fun to be out on an internship and I highly recommend other students to take an internship course. Getting to experience what it's like to work out in the real world is a nice break from everyday life with studies. Familjebostäder was a very nice workplace to be at and I got very nice treatment. The contact with HoloHouse worked excellently and I am so pleased that I applied for the internship. Now I'm looking forward to finishing school, and this summer I will work as a landlord at Familjebostäder.
